My 1st McKenna Shoot

My first attempt at photographing McKenna.

1st Try

I've decided to take up photography as a hobby.  I confess I have no idea what I am doing and half the time my photos turn out terribly, but here a few I thought turned out okay.

I decided to try to shoot things that didn't move very much to start with (ie. my lazy cat and trees) as opposed to things that never sit still (ie. McKenna).

I have to say after just a few days that I'm never going back. I love my SLR camera and am really looking forward to learning more.  I'm going to my friend Maria's house today to learn some things.  I hope she's a patient person, because the only thing I've learned so far about my camera is how to set the date and time and I've already had it for over a week : )

Hobbies?

After much thought, I've decided that I need a hobby. There are a lot of things that I enjoy (reading, walking), but I can honestly say that if someone would ask me what my hobbies are, I would probably draw a blank. I don't do crafts (such as scrapbooking, stamping, card making, etc). I don't have the time for a hobby that takes me away from my family (travelling, hiking etc), and so I've decided upon photography. I am strictly taking this up for my and my families enjoyment and have no intention of making a business of it. My super talented friend and family photographer Maria has been helping me get started. She has done a couple of shoots for our family and you can check her out at marialangphotography.com. She's been awesome at suggesting cameras and other equipment and I'm super excited to get started. I'm going out shopping for my first DSLR camera today and hopefully I'll be taking some pictures that I won't be too embarassed to share on my blog. Wish me luck!
